STRATEGIC PLANNER AND BUSINESS ANALYST

I find great satisfaction in the intellectual challenge of interpreting research, linking performance and business priorities and translating this into logical strategy with supporting plans. Uniquely I am in a position to then deliver these plans and measure effect; which gives me both ownership and visibility of the entire communications process.

BUDGETARY MANAGEMENT

I have always enjoyed both preparation and pitching, whether this has been for small operational marketing budgets during my time in the not for profit sector; to multi-million pound campaign and media budgets. I also continue to place the same level of detailed scrutiny of the output value of every pound spent in all areas of my brief, regardless of whether the budget is in the thousands or millions bracket.

PUBLIC SPEAKING, CONFERENCES AND EVENTS

A confident presenter with appearances on the marketing industry circuit (work commitments allowing), I thoroughly enjoy the showmanship of pitching advertising and marketing concepts with real enthusiasm for my subject.

ACTIVE BOARD MEMBER

I enjoy challenging traditional views and I am a confident engaged in intellectual debate at board level. I also believe there is a time to listen in order to interpret complex organisational requirements, as it is only with the right brief that it is possible to deliver clear and achievable solutions.

I can articulate exactly what I mean in terms of strategy, tasks and creative processes. I never accept second best solutions and I believe in acting as a catalyst to new thinking in current marketing operations as well as all inter-related operations, driving changes to training and delivery to ensure that the entire consumer experience is aligned.

WORKSHOP FACILITATOR

As a seasoned and (I think) entertaining workshop facilitator I normally run several sessions each month, designed to get to the heart of stakeholder issues and then work with them to build and achieve buy-in to solutions.

LEADERSHIP BY EXAMPLE

Simply put, I expect no more from my colleagues than I am prepared to invest myself, I try to lead by example and commitment.

CHANGE MANAGER AND DECISION MAKER

Our business is often volatile and subject to high pressure, whether as a result of resources or sheer weight of load and responsibilities, I thrive in and enjoy the intensity of operating in this kind of environment.

Where hard decisions about people, activities and resources have to be made I am prepared always to make the necessary changes and to be personally responsible for communicating them face to face and to understand and steer a course through the impacts of change programmes. Over the years I have gained much experience in dealing with staff, contractors and delivery structures as the subject to change programmes.

I am also prepared to take calculated business risks in an industry marred by risk aversion, which has given us some of our more exciting campaign concepts in the last few years.
